Regency Hospital Company Opens Hospital in Louisiana

Alpharetta, Georgia, February 12, 2004–Regency Hospital Company today announced the opening of its newest hospital, Regency Hospital of Covington located in Covington, Louisiana. Regency Hospital of North Shore will be leasing space from Lakeview Regional Medical Center at its Specialty Center location. Regency Hospital of Covington is a 38-bed hospital that will provide long-term acute care (LTAC) services to will treat medically complex patients who have suffered from recent catastrophic illness or injury and require an extended stay in an acute care environment.

“We are happy to be in Louisiana and working with Lakeview Regional Medical Center,” stated Rod Laughlin, President and CEO of Regency Hospital Company. Prior to Regency, Laughlin was President and CEO of Transitional Hospitals Company (THC) which developed a successful LTAC hospital in New Orleans in the 90’s. “We stand committed to providing the highest level of acute care to these patients and are equally committed to getting them well and sending them home. We are in the business of giving people their lives back,” he continued.

Lakeview Regional Medical Center CEO, Max Lauderdale, says he is pleased with the new development. “Regency Hospital has an outstanding reputation for bringing a quality hospital to the communities it serves. This LTAC will really enhance this area and provide a needed service to the residents of the North Shore,” Lauderdale stated. “By providing this hospital to the North Shore, we are helping to ensure that our communities have access to the finest healthcare available,” he continued.
